Flash is a student run literary journal based at Lancaster University that produces an issue twice every academic year. I was lucky enough to be asked to be a part of the team and to design the front covers for issues 25 and 26.
The front cover for issue 25 is an abstract visual representation of the number 25 where the graphic elements making up the design are the morse code characters for 25.
The front cover for issue 26 was an experimentation in interactive design and was designed so that the glasses could be cut out and and used as part of the journal; either to be worn as a pair of “reading glasses” for the brave reader or to be used as a bookmark when reading the journal. The idea was that the reader will have a stronger emotive interaction with the journal if they have cut out and used part of the front cover.
